What’s your motivation driver?
I love finding great articles! Especially on cold rainy days. Even better, running across articles that talk about motivation, when I’m personally struggling with that idea and word! Jessica Estrada with Well+Good does a fantastic job diving into how motivation might feel and look different for all of us and how WE should be tapping into our own motivation based on our own drivers.
Her first breakdown is understanding the difference between Intrinsic vs Extrinsic Motivation. In a very quick view:
“Intrinsic motivation is when you perform a behavior because you find it rewarding” vs “Extrinsic motivation is when you perform a behavior because you either want to avoid some kind of punishment or you want to earn a reward”
Just with that simple concept, my immediate question to myself is, how have I been motivating myself in the past……and how do I actually want to motivate myself in the future for success? Jessica states, “When it comes to creating long-term change and achieving big goals, having intrinsic motivation is vital” and I agree 100%.
While those outside factors definitely help push us to get there, it’s our internal drive that truly helps us achieve our long term goals.
I hope you enjoy this full article as much as I have to dive a little deeper in your own self reflection! Cheers to your success! Click here or below!
